PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for suppressing color slurring caused in a subscanning direction of color image data generated by an image reader and its control method and to provide a mechanism for efficiently detecting and adjusting the color slurring in an inspection adjustment device of the image reader and its control method. SOLUTION: The inspection adjustment device for the image reader analyzes image data transferred from an image reader that is a device to be inspected to calculate a color slurring amount and adjusts a current supplied to a motor that moves a read unit provided for the image reader in a subscanning direction on the basis of a value set corresponding to the color slurring amount.
