PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field optical recording/reproducing device having compatibility with recording media having different track densities and also capable of highly precise tracking. ;SOLUTION: In the lower surface 29 of the slider 16 which constitutes the optical head of a near-field optical recording/reproducing device, movable edge parts 36A, 37A of a micro opening 30 for generating near-field light are defined by the edge parts of piezoelectric elements 36, 37 arranged opposite to each other. The movable edge parts 36A, 37A are displaced by extending and contracting the piezoelectric elements 36, 37, and thereby the opening width (h) and the position of the micro opening 30 are changed. The opening width (h) of the micro opening 30 is changed in accordance with the track width of a recording medium, and the positional change of the micro opening 30 is used for correcting a tracking error.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
