PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for colorimetrically expressing color capable of accurately simply, rapidly, estimating the characteristics of a light source at a low cost, by using a photographing system and capable of converting photographed image data into colorimetric value image data to display it on an image display device, and to provide a computer-readable information storage medium for recording a program for colorimetrically expressing color.;SOLUTION: According to this method for colorimetrically expressing color, a standard plate with a plurality of color chips disposed thereon is installed in a desired position in lighting, the spectral characteristic of the lighting is inferred by using image data obtained by photographing the color chips, and the apparent color same as that in the lighting is reproduced in an image display system by using relationships of the spectral characteristic of the lighting with the spectral sensitivity characteristic of the photographing system, the spectral characteristic of a subject, a drive signal for the display system, and the displayed color. Response values to the photographing are converted into colorimetric value image data and then converted into image data for driving the display system by obtaining the optimal solution for expressing the response values in terms of colorimetric values by using functions for expressing the human visibility characteristic and the spectral characteristic of the subject in a specific dimension.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
