PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a using method of a cutting-off device for continuously cast material, applied in the case of developing a trouble in a self-positional detector for detecting the position of a carriage, that is the using method of the cutting-off device for continuously cast material, with which the carriage clamping the continuously cast material is synchronously shifted with the shifting of the continuously cast material and the continuously cast material is cut off with a torch engaged with the carriage to make a cast slab. ;SOLUTION: The positioning of the carriage is performed at the position of a fixed point as a basis for starting the cut-off by using the detector for detecting the shifting amount of the clamped continuously cast material, and the carriage position from the setting point is calculated from an output signal of the above detector.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
