PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high temperature oxidation-resistant material and a heating element material, each of which comprises a base material consisting of or consisting essentially of MoSi2 excellent in embrittlement resistance and durability, by controlling minute contents of free Si and Mo5Si3.
