PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a ceramic heater equipped with a flange which is miniaturized and lightweight, has a stable and robust mechanical strength, has a sufficient waterproof and a measure against an electricity leakage, and can manufacture more cheaply.;SOLUTION: This ceramic heater 1 having a heating resistor 2 embedded in a ceramic substrate 4, and a conduct terminal 3a for supplying current to the heating resistor 2, wherein a flange 6 formed of a heat-resistant resin material is provided between a heating region which generates heat by current conducting to the heating resistor 2 and the conduct terminal 3a. The flange 6 which is formed by an integrated casting or a pressed-fitting in the ceramic base material 4, is prepared a biconcave part 8 in the heater surface between the conduct terminal 3a and the heating region, or a through hole 9A to improve its mechanical strength. Moreover, the connection part of the electrode terminal and the heating resister 2 and its vicinity, and the ceramic base material 4, and the flange connection part are covered with a waterproof resin 10A.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
