PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article for controlling emission of volatile active organic matter into an ambient atiosphere and for making it substantially uniform. SOLUTION: This article includes a silicone elastomer matrix of a desired shape, and volatile matter and an effective amount of an agent for compatibilizing the volatile matter with the silicone elastomer of the matrix are dispersed in the matrix. The compatibilizing agent is an organic solvent with a Hildebrand dissolution parameter of 8 to 14 (cal/cm3)1/2 and a vapor pressure at 20 deg.C of 0.0005 to 0.8 mmHG (0.06 to 105 Pa).
