PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network picture file management system for supplying a reference program for allowing a terminal to refer to management information of a picture file preserved in a file server from the file server to the terminal. ;SOLUTION: In this management system, the class file of a Java applet 133 is stored in a hard disk 13 of a copy server 10. When a web browser 301 executed on a client terminal 2 requests the class file to the copy server 10, the class file is transmitted to a web browser 30. This Java applet 133 requests the management information of the picture file to the copy server 10. A control part 112 of the copy server 10 which receives the file management information request reads the file management information related with the picture file from the hard disk 13, and transmits it to the Java applet 133 being the origin of the request.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
