PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate which part of a figure a specified feature point belongs to while easily and exactly specifying each feature point unless legs and arms are not overlapped with a body and the legs and arms do not mutually cross with respect to a camera. SOLUTION: A distance a(s) from a measuring position P of a center G of gravity on the contour line of a figure image and a distance b(s) from the same measuring point P to a head top H are obtained and further, the square sum of respective distances a(s) and b(s) is calculated. Such a position of the maximal square sum is detected as a feature point. Further, Kalman filtering processing is applied to the detected feature point and the feature point of the figure image is determined on the basis of a coefficient provided by this processing and an autoregressive model expression.
