PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillatory type actuator which can rotationally drive a driven body around a prescribed axis with a mechanical constitution, without requiring troublesome drive controls and has multiple degrees of freedom. ;SOLUTION: An oscillatory type actuator is provided with an oscillating body 10, having a driving section (h) which can excite flexural vibrations in two orthogonal facial directions (X, Y), including the center axial line Z and longitudinal vibrations which expand and contract in the axial direction and is made to make circular or elliptical motions around the neutral face of the flexural vibrations by giving a temporal phase difference between the longitudinal and flexural vibrations. The vibrating body 10 is provided with chamfered sections f1 and f2 having two-face widths. Therefore, the characteristic frequency of the vibrating system, which is excited to cause flexural vibrations, is made different from that of the vibrating system excited to make the longitudinal vibrations.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
