PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device of measuring/monitoring an opening of a gate such as a dam, capable of directly measuring the opening with high accuracy without using a mechanical measuring means, remarkably reducing the time and effort and the cost for periodic maintenance check such as the maintenance of accuracy, and easily visually confirming the opening of the gate by displaying an image for visually monitoring a scale board onto a monitor even when the trouble is generated on the device for measuring/monitoring the opening of the gate. ;SOLUTION: Scale boards 2 capable of displaying the information on an opening of a gate 1, are fixed to the left and right sides of the gate 1. The displayed patterns on the scale boards 2 are picked up by lighting systems 3 and cameras 4. The scale reading images picked up by the cameras 4 are input to a scale board reading device 5. A result of the processing by the scale board reading device 5 and captured images of the scale boards 2 are multiply displayed on a monitor 6 with a result of the processing.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
