PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive probe that can change the refractive angle and can set the beam width of ultrasonic waves to a prescribed width, even if the refractive angle is changed. ;SOLUTION: A traveling wedge 3 adheres to a semicircular wedge 2 and can move along the circumferential surface of the semicircular wedge 2. In a group of vibrators 4, rectangular vibratos adhere and are arranged in a line on the traveling wedge 3, and a vibrator selection switch 6 is connected to each vibrator by wiring 5 so that each vibrator can be excited independently. By changing the position of the traveling wedge 3, a refractive angle can be changed. By changing the number of vibrators to be excited, the width of the vibrators can be changed. Since no delay circuits or the like are provided, cost can be reduced, as compared with linear-arrayed probes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
