PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-carrier/multi-sector channel pooling configuration, by which the system flexibility and reliability can be enhanced. SOLUTION: Each of base stations in a wireless communication system has a plurality of channel unit boards (200), including a plurality of channel elements (202) to serve a processing operation to a signal assigned to a plurality of carriers of the system. A prescribed channel unit board includes a multiplexer (204), that activates a multi-carrier/multi-sector channel pooling by assigning a prescribed channel element of the board to any of a plurality of carriers of the system. For example, the multiplexer in the prescribed channel board can be operated to connect the channel element of the board to an I/Q signal bus related to a different system carrier. Then the I/Q signal bus, with respect to each of the carriers, is coupled with a corresponding signal from the other board on the prescribed board.
