PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an operation reaction sound which increases the reality and naturalness of object operation by generating various operation reaction sounds in real time by making good use of detail information on user operation as an event in the real world and property information on an operated object in a virtual world. ;SOLUTION: On the basis of the operation information (the kind, operation strength, and operating speed of an input device) obtained from the input device and the object property information in the virtual world, the timbre, pitch, and loudness of sound data are processed and edited or the sound data are given effects and outputted. This device inputs event information at a basic reaction sound selection part 41 from an event acquisition part 13. Then the basic reaction sound selection part 41 previously holds the correspondence relation between the inputted event information and sound data, obtains the sound data corresponding to the inputted event information from an operation reaction sound database 41, and outputs the sound data as operation reaction data to a sound editing device 43.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
