PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plated steel wire having excellent corrosion resistance under saltwater environment and freshwater environment and its manufacturing method. ;SOLUTION: In the hot-dip Al-Mg-Si alloy coated steel wire, a hot-dip Al-Mg- Si alloy coating layer having a composition consisting of, by mass, 3-9% Mg, 2-10% Si and the balance Al with inevitable impurities is formed on the surface of a steel wire. Coating weight is (10 to 400) g/m2 expressed in terms of Al, and Mg2Si is contained in the plating layer. Further, an Al-Si-Fe alloy layer of 15 m thickness is formed at the interface between the plating layer and the steel wire. It is preferable that the steel wire has, as an upper layer, a baking-hardening-type organic synthetic resin coated film of 80% degree of curing. In the plating method, pretreatment is performed, at the above alloy plating, by using an aqueous flux where KCl and NaCl are contained as main components and at least one kind of fluoride among Na3AlF6, AlF3, NaF and KF is added.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
