METHOD FOR EXECUTING ELECTROCHEMICAL CORROSION PREVENTION UNDER FLUCTUATING CONDITIONS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for which automatically applies corrosion preventive manipulation without delay to fluctuating corrosion conditions. ;SOLUTION: At least one detector 14 is arranged in contact with an electrolyte 15 existing in a corrosion prevented object 11. The detector is electrically insulated from the corrosion prevented object. The nature of the electrolyte which affects the electrochemical nature or corrosion reaction rate of the electrolyte is measured by the detector 14 at time intervals shorter than the time needed for the electrolyte to induce a significant change with respect to corrosion. The results of the measurement of the detector 14 are sent to a measuring and data processing device 17 which in turn determines a fresh optimum part in accordance with the results of the measurement. The current or voltage supplied from a power source 12 for the purpose of corrosion prevention is changed in such a manner that the fresh optimum potential is achieved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
