PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounting LED, which is equipped with an insulating mounting board large in area, subminiature in size, and enhanced in static countermeasure properties. ;SOLUTION: A static countermeasure surface-mounting LED has a structure, where a first and second terminal electrode 1, and 2 are arranged on the surface of an insulating board 10, a gallium nitride compound semiconductor 3 is mounted on the surface of the insulating board 10, a first and a second lower terminal electrode 1a and 2a, electrically connected to the first and second terminal electrode 1 and 2, and a p-type electrode 8 and an n-type electrode provided on the gallium nitride compound semiconductor 3 are provided in the lower part of the insulating board 10, a protective element 5 for the gallium nitride compound semiconductor 3 is connected electrically to the lower terminal electrodes 1a and 2a, and the gallium nitride compound semiconductor 3 is arranged nearly at the center of the insulating board 10 surface, where electrical connections are made by conductive wires 4 and the like, at least by conductive bumps or conductive paste and an anisotropic conductive film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
