PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge conversion device which has solved the problems of a solid charge conversion device and a gas charge conversion device in a tandem accelerator. ;SOLUTION: This laser beam containment device 1 is constituted so as to contain a laser beam inside a reflection tube 10 by emitting the laser beam from a predetermined incidence angle θ into the reflection tube 10 from a laser beam introduction part 11 and multiply reflecting it. The reflection tube 10 has openings 13 and 14 at a top and a bottom of a center axis 15 extending vertically, a substantially cylindrical inner face shape diametrally reduced toward these openings, and an inner face 12 formed in a reflector surface reflecting the laser beam. This laser beam containment device 1 is provided in a center electrode part of a tandem accelerator, extending in the same axial direction as a center axis of an accelerating tube. A laser beam is emitted from outside the accelerator for containing the laser beam and charge conversion is applied to charged particles passing an area near the center axis and passing through an interior of the reflection tube.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
