PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect a defect part such as a hole, a contamination or the like which is formed on the surface of a sheetlike product such as a cloth, a sheet of paper or the like. ;SOLUTION: A sheetlike product 3 is moved on surfaces of inspection plates whose surface colors are different such as a plate whose surface is white and a plate whose surface is black. By observing a change in a color projected in a defect part 4 on the surface of the sheetlike product 3, whether the change is a hole, a contamination or a thin cloth is judged. Alternatively, in order to easily detect a defect part 4 on the surface of a sheetlike product 3, an illuminating operation is adjusted in such a way that the brightness or the hue on the surface of the sheetlike product 3 becomes a set level.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
