PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a carbon brush material whose normal sliding contact is maintained in a sliding operation under a shock vibration and under a high- temperature condition, whose rectification capability is superior and whose wear resistance is high by a method wherein a carbon brush base material is impregnated with a thermoplastic fluororesin at specific wt.%. ;SOLUTION: A carbon brush base material is impregnated with 0.2 to 10 wt.%, preferably 2.1 to 2.3 wt.%, of a thermoplastic fluororesin by a low- pressure impregnation method. After that, its temperature is raised up to 100°C at a temperature rise speed of 10°C/hr. The carbon brush base material is held at this temperature for eight hours, and this carbon brush material is obtained. In addition, the thermoplastic fluororesin which is to be impregnated is a resin solution in which 75 wt.% of acetone is mixed uniformly with 25 wt.% of a fluororesin, In addition, it is preferable that the apparent specific gravity of the carbon brush base material is in a range of 1.55 to 1.86.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
