CONVERTING METHOD FOR KANJI OR THE LIKE, CONVERTED CANDIDATE DETERMINING METHOD FOR KANJI OR THE LIKE AND TERMINAL EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select KANJI, which are more than the number of input characters, out of converted candidates with a little number of input characters. SOLUTION: Concerning the converting method for KANJI or the like, when there are (n) number of input character strings, the KANJI having the same reading as this character string is retrieved out of dictionary data. Concerning the KANJI to be retrieved, not only the KANJI having the reading of (n) pieces of character strings but also a KANJI group having the head reading same as (n) pieces of character string are listed up as converted candidates. When the character string is 'ho', for example, in addition to the KANJI having this head reading, KANJI 'hokkai', 'hokkaido', 'hokkyoku' and 'hokki' with the head reading started with 'ho' are listed up as converted candidates. When the target KANJI is included in this converted candidate list, a user determines the listed-up specified KANJI as the target KANJI. The converted candidate list includes KANA and square forms of KANA as well in addition to KANJT. Thus, since the KANJI having the same head reading are displayed as the converted candidate list, the group of KANJI with character strings more than the number of input characters can be selected with a little input character strings.
