PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress both cracking when metal is melted and wear during heating with radiation plasma by composing a metal receiving pan for metal vapor laser of a cermet material having composition of metal and ceramics in specified ranges. ;SOLUTION: A sample is designed to form a boat type metal receiving pan 2 curved along the curvature of a discharging tube 1 in a metal vapor laser. The receiving pan 2 is composed of a cermet material having composition of 30-90 wt.% of a high melting point metal, e.g. molybdenum or tungsten, and 10-70 wt.% of ceramics, e.g. alumina or zirconia. Heat shock resistance can be enhanced utilizing the characteristics of high melting point metal and wear can be suppressed during heating with radiation plasma utilizing the characteristics of ceramics.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
