PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration in a picture caused on the picture in the case of magnifying a video signal. SOLUTION: A magnification processing circuit 5 consists of a line memory 11 that stores a digital video signal received from an A/D converter by one line, a magnification control circuit 12 that outputs a control signal to the line memory 11 for storage of the video signal by one line, a latch circuit 13 that latches the video signal stored in the line memory 11, a subtractor 14 that subtracts a video signal B stored in the line memory 11 from a video signal A latched by the latch circuit 13, a multiplier 15 that multiplies an output of the subtractor 14 with a prescribed interpolation coefficient αi (α 1=5/6, α2=1/6, α3=3/6 and α1'=5/6), and an adder 16 that sums the output of the multiplier 15 and the video signal B stored in the line memory 11 and provides the output of a sum to a D/A converter 6.
