Exposed is a process of using a low-power radar level transmitter to calculate a product's dielectric constant in a tank. Low Power Time Domain Reflectometry Radar circuits (LPTDRR) are controlled to calculate a time delay between microwave energy transmission below a termination (110) extending on the product (26) in the tank and reflection of the energy from microwave. In some embodiments, the product's dielectric constant is calculated as a function of the time delay. In other embodiments, the dielectric constant is calculated by controlling the LPTDRR circuits to calculate amplitudes of transmit and receive pulses. The product's dielectric is calculated as a function of the amplitudes of the transmit and receive pulses.
