Methods for using integrin alfa4 adhesion antagonists / integrin alfa4 ligand are detailed, which inhibit the biological effects of such adhesion. Such antagonists are useful in suppressing the destruction of bone tissue associated with multiple myeloma. the housing of multiple myeloma cells in the bone marrow is inhibited and their release depends on integrin alfa4 of bone tissue reabsorption factors, which would result in bone tissue destruction in patients with multiple myeloma.
