Carrier (1) for loose flowers (2), in particular for gerberas, which carrier has a wall (3) provided with several insertion apertures (4) extending through the wall, each aperture being designed to receive a flower stem (5) to be passed through it, characterized in that the wall of the carrier provided with insertion apertures is an elongated tube bounding an internal cavity, in such a way that for placing flowers on the carrier the stems thereof can be inserted inwards from the outside of the tube so that the stems are situated in the internal cavity, in that the tube can be split along its length and the split tube can be opened out, and in that the tube comprises several strips of sheet material extending in the lengthwise direction of the tube and adjacent to each other in the peripheral direction of the tube, each strip being provided with several insertion apertures situated at a distance from each other in the lengthwise direction of the tube.
