The method is for the renovation of adjacent housing blocks (1,2,3,4) with several floors (6,7,8,9) connected to one another by fixed stairs present in each block and involves at least one stairs at least partly removed. On the rear side of the blocks a constructon is formed against them, via which living accommodation in the blocks is made accessible. In the construction a fixed stairway is installed, a lift can be incorporated and a gallery which connects adjacent floors is formed. Near the rear side of the blocks an extending component is removed, so that the construction can be brought against the blocks. The living accommodations on the rear side are provided with an outer door (11) for access.
