The abdominal fat of a slaughtered bird is separated from abdominal skin by positioning a supporting surface (22) against at least a part of the side of the abdominal skin facing away from the abdominal fat; and scraping at least a part of the abdominal fat off the skin with a movable scraper (27). The movement of the scraper is directed parallel to the supporting surface. An Independent claim is also included for an abdominal fat separating device including a supporting surface, and scraper with first displacement mechanism for displacing the scraper parallel to the supporting surface.
