Method for packing a filled sandwich bread roll (1) involves the roll cut (2,3) from the upper side to a predetermined distance from under side. The cut surfaces are then opened to form a flat horizontal upper side (4) on which a filling is laid. On the opeen upper side a small dish is then placed. The height of the dish is such that the roll and its filling extend above the edge of the dish. A vacuum is created in the dish and a transparent foil is drawn over the upper side of the dish with the roll so that the roll is drawn into the dish. The foil is then sealingly fixed to the dish.
