Road traffic light system with repeater display inside road vehicle, uses short range inductive loop to communicate between system and visual indicator on driver's dashboard

The roadside control system (7) for the traffic lights (10) transmits signals via inductive loop (2) set into roadway. A receiver (5) in a vehicle (4) above the loop feeds signals to a dashboard display (9). The dashboard display shows the current light phase, i.e. red, amber or green, direction of travel and the time left before the next change of phase.
