New oil-in-water emulsions for cosmetic and pharmaceutical use contain in the oily phase: (1) at least one micronized, non-solubilized biologically active material in particulate form, at least 80, preferably at least 90, % by number of the particles having a diameter of 1-10 mu m, and at least 50 % having a particle size below 50 mu m, and (2) a suitable emulsifying system.
