A comb assembly 10 to be mounted on a body of a handpiece to cut hair, has a comb 12 with an alignment recess 15 - not shown and a clamp plate 13 having a projection 14 received within recess 15 but having a clearance with respect thereto to provide for adjustment of the lead and throw of the comb relative to clamp plate 13. Clamp plate 13 is adapted to secure the comb to the body of the handpiece. A threaded member has a shaft which passes through clamp plate 13 to threadably engage with the body so that upon tensioning of the threaded member, the comb is clamped to the body by clamp plate 13. The comb and clamp plate 13 have markings 21 & 22 in the form of an array of discrete indicia, to aid in the positioning of the comb relative to clamp plate 13 and therefore an associated cutter.
