The invention relates to a process for manufacturing cobalt, zirconium and zinc-substituted barium ferrite fine powders used as electromagnetic components in magnetic recording media with magnetisation in a perpendicular plane. According to the invention, the process consists in using flows of salts added in a ratio of 1...5% to pyrolytic compounds during the ferrite crystallization reaction, at temperatures of 700...900 degree C, for 2...6 h.
