The proposed method for determining the dimensions of the real contact area of two interacting transparent objects with planar side surfaces consists in producing the different apparent images of the contact area by directing a light beam at various angles to the side surfaces of the objects, determining the dimensions of the said apparent images, and using the dimensions of the apparent images for determining the dimensions of the real contact area by solving a linear equation system.
