Measuring technique for accelerometers or sensors on e.g. rockets or shells, uses measuring beam with adjustable bend length to change measuring region sensitivity
The measuring beam (2) rigidity is increased after a given bending of the beam, corresponding to a first sensitive sensor measuring region, by reducing the free length of the beam able to bend. This reduction in free length is caused by moving against a support heel (3) fixed in relation to the sensor support (1). The accelerometer or sensor have an active part comprising a flexible measuring beam made from silicon or the like and attached to or integrally formed from a support. The free end of the beam has a seismic weight (4) attached to it. Stretch-sensitive piezoresistors (8) are used to record bending of the beam caused by acceleration or retardation forces. Several measuring regions with different sensitivities are set up for each sensor. An Independent claim is also included for the accelerometer/sensor.
