An electrical voltage signal is applied between the high electronic conduction structures of the multilayer assembly, at least part of which comprises an alternating component, which has an amplitude between 0.05 and 100 μm and a frequency of less than 5 kHz and of preferably between 2 and 2000 Hz, so as to generate in the multilayer assembly an alternating ion current capable of producing a heating of the macromolecular material with ion conduction by Joule effect. Application to the heating of electrochemical current generators in thin layers with solid polymer electrolyte or also to the surface heating of elements of various regular or irregular shapes whose surface is coated with the multilayer assembly.
