A method of measuring groundwater velocity in an aquifercomprising the steps ofproviding a groundwater velocity probe in an aquifer, the groundwater velocityprobe having asurface with a first portion and a second portion, means for injecting atracer having a characteristicproperty proximate the first portion, means for detecting the characteristicproperty of the tracerproximate the second portion, and means for measuring time elapsed betweeninjecting the tracerand detecting the characteristic property of the tracer, injecting the tracerproximate the first portion,starting a timer in a datalogger, detecting the characteristic property of thetracer proximate thesecond portion, inputting an electrical signal representative of thecharacteristic property to thedatalogger, and measuring time elapsed between injecting the tracer anddetecting the characteristicproperty with the datalogger.
