Altering the sex ratio of in vitro fertilization in livestock by treatment of the ova and/or sperm with a solution containing a basic amino acid and an inorganic alkali salt prior to fertilization and implantation in a host womb : Altering the sex ratio of in vitro fertilization in livestock is new, consisting of treatment of the ova and/or sperm with a solution containing a basic amino acid and an inorganic alkali salt prior to fertilization and implantation in a host womb. Independent claims are a;so included for the following: (1) a method for altering the sex ratio in in vivo fertilization by treating the host womb with a solution containing a basic amino acid and an inorganic alkali salt prior to implantation; (2) a solution containing a basic amino acid and an inorganic alkali salt for use in the sex ratio alteration method; (3) treated frozen sperm for use in fertilization; and (4) apparatus for introducing the solution to a host womb.
