An ironing die for resin coated metal sheet, capable of obtaining an ironing container having a sufficient height and making it difficult for resin layer to be damaged by sufficiently decreasing the thickness of a side wall of a cup in an ironing step and an ironing method using the ironing die. The ironing die is characterized in that, on a die surface, an incidence angle is provided comprising pre-incidence angle of 3 to 8 DEG and a post-incidence angle of 1 to 4 DEG and having an angle, obtained by deducting the post-incidence angle from the pre-incidence angle, of more than 0 DEG and 4 DEG or less; the ironing method is characterized in that a cup formed of a resin coated sheet metal is put on a punch and ironing-processed using the die.
