Drug target isogenes: polymorphisms in the uncoupling protein 3 (mitochondrial, proton carrier) gene

Polynucleotides comprising one or more of 19 novel single nucleotide polymorphisms in the human Uncoupling Protein 3 (mitochondrial, proton carrier) (UCP3) gene are described. Compositions and methods for detecting one or more of these polymorphisms are also disclosed. In addition, various genotypes and haplotypes for UCP3 gene that exist in the population are described.
