PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an adsorbent with waste shell such as oyster and ark is provided to eliminate heavy metals and organic chlorines at low cost. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of collecting waste shell followed by washing; calcining it at the temperature range of 850 to 950deg.C for 2 hours; pulverizing calcined shell by a ball mill after cooling. Prepared shell powder£Ca(OH)2| is either applied as an adsorbent in itself or processed in the form of pellet by mixing with 30-50wt.% of alumina and 0.1-0.5wt.% of PVA (Polyvinylalcohol), followed by calcining at the temperature of 900 to 1200deg.C for 1 to 3 hours.
