PURPOSE: Provided is novel, chitinase-producing antagonistic strain, Serratia proteamaculans 3095 which is stable in a broad range of pH and at high temperatures, has an antagonistic activity, shows a strong antagonism on a plant pathogen in vitro, and inhibits development of a plant pathogen in vivo. Also, a biological control method is provide. CONSTITUTION: Serratia proteamaculans 3095 (KCTC 8945p) is prepared by suspending and diluting the soil specimen with a physiological saline solution; inoculating it on an LB agar plate and incubating at 30deg.C for a day; toothpicking a colony into an agar medium and isolating a strain forming a large chitin decomposition ring, to isolate a chitinase producing strain. The biological control method using Serratia proteamaculans 3095 (KCTC 8945p) is characterized by the following steps of: i) preparing an eggplant and bed soil composed of field soil, manure, and sand at the rate of 2:2:1; ii) inoculating 5ml of Fusarium oxysporum already cultivated in PDB into a 20cm port where a branch of the eggplant is transplanted; iii) leaving Fusarium oxysporum under moist condition at 28deg.C for one day; iv) adding 5ml of control bacteria to Fusarium oxysporum; and v) cultivating the control bacteria at 28deg.C.
