PURPOSE: A high corrosion resisting film coated steel cable for a bicycle brake and a method for manufacturing the same are provided which have superior corrosion resistance and handling properties together with beautiful surface by coating a passivated coating film having outstanding corrosion resistance on the surface thereof after washing and removing a lubricating rust preventing agent coated on the surface of existing steel cable. CONSTITUTION: A high corrosion resisting film coated steel cable for a bicycle brake is characterized in that a passivated coating film is formed on the surface thereof by coating the surface of a steel cable for a bicycle brake with a coating solution consisting of 20 to 40 wt.% of chromic acid solution, 20 to 40 wt.% of pigment and 20 to 60 wt.% of distilled water. The method for manufacturing the high corrosion resisting film coated steel cable for a bicycle brake comprises the steps of washing and removing foreign substances stuck to the surface of the steel cable for a bicycle brake manufactured through an ordinary stranding process; coating a coating solution consisting of 20 to 40 wt.% of chromic acid solution, 20 to 40 wt.% of pigment and 20 to 60 wt.% of distilled water on the foreign substance removed cable; and drying the coating solution by passing the coating solution covered on the surface of the cable through a drying furnace the inner temperature of which is controlled to a temperature ranging from 100 to 200 deg.C.
