PURPOSE: Provided is a method for producing fuel ethanol from recycled papers using recombinant yeasts capable of hydrolyzing cellulose, thereby the fuel ethanol having high productivity can be produced under low temperature with low costs. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing fuel ethanol comprises the steps of: (1) dissolving the cellulose into distilled water, adding 1% sulfuric acid solution and treating the mixture at 121 deg. C and 15 psig for 30 minutes; (2) washing the cellulose with distilled water to reach up to pH 4 to 5, removing water from the cellulose with a filter, and drying the cellulose at 60 deg. C; (3) fed-batch incubating yeasts in a medium containing glucose; (4) adding conventional enzyme into the fermented culture of yeasts; and (5) adding 10 g/l of the cellulose into the fermented culture to saccharify the cellulose.
