PURPOSE: A synthesis process of poly(1,4-phenylenevinylene) derivative(PPV) is provided to be useable in the production of electro-luminescent (EL) element by introducing hydrophilic urethane radicals in the branched chain of PPV to increase solubility to organic solvent and to form hydrophilic hydrogen bonds between polymer chains. CONSTITUTION: The synthesis process for preparing PPV comprises a first step of reacting 4-methoxy phenol and 1-chloro-6-hexanol to obtain 1-methoxy-4-(6,-hydroxy)hexyloxy benzene; a second step of forming 2-methoxy-5-(6,-hydroxy)hexyloxy-1,4-bis (chloromethyl)benzene by chloromethylation of the said 1-methoxy-4-(6,-hydroxy)hexyloxy benzene; a third step of reacting the resultant material from the second step with butyl isocyanato acetate to obtain 2-methoxy-5-(hexyloxy-(6-oxo-n-butylcarbonyl methylurethane)-1,4-bis(chloromethyl)benzene as a monomer defined by formula 1 ,wherein x is C1-C20 alkyl group, R1 is C1-C20 linear or branched alkyl group, and R2 is C1-C20 alkyl group or -(CH2)x-OCONHCH2COOR1).
