INTEGRATED ATM NAMER SYSTEM CAPABLE OF SETTING UP SHORTCUT PATH IN NEXT-GENERATION INTERNET AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An integrated ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) name system capable of setting up a shortcut path in the next-generation Internet are provided to classify traffic between an originating/destination host and a router into IP(Internet Protocol) traffic, IPoA(IP over ATM) traffic and pure ATM traffic, so as to provide a shortcut path according to a destination address. CONSTITUTION: An integrated destination name resolution function block(200) has a name resolution function block(220) and an address resolution function block(230). The name resolution function block(220) processes an IP(Internet Protocol) and ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) domain name inputted from a user application block(210). And the address resolution function block(230) processes address resolution for an address obtained by the name resolution function block(220). The integrated destination name resolution function block(200) provides services of IP, IPoA(IP over ATM) and pure ATM, and the traffic inputted by the user is delivered to an ATM/IP domain name input block(221) of the name resolution function block(220).
