An optical waveguide, a radiation radiation apparatus using the same, and a manufacturing process of the radiation radiation apparatus. The optical waveguide has a core 12 made of a first material having a first refractive index and a cladding 14 surrounding a core 12 made of a second material having a second refractive index. When the core is pumped with radiation of a predetermined wavelength, the core is an active material that emits radiation of a desired wavelength, and the first and second materials are individually fabricated from different materials and then physically assembled into a waveguide. A light emitting device using a light guide tube is composed of either an amplified natural emission (ASE) source or a laser source using an appropriate reflecting material at the end of the optical waveguide.
