High molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon degrading bacteria for bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contaminated environment the method for preparation thereof and decomposing oil composition comprising the degrading bacteria

PURPOSE: Provided is a PAH decomposing microorganism for the bioremediation of PAH contamination in soil. And its producing method and oil decomposing compositions containing the same are also provided. CONSTITUTION: The microorganism Mycobacterium sp. C2-3 (KCTC 9875P) is capable of decomposing polyring aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH) which has 3 or more rings and is selected from the group consisting of pyrene, phenanthrene and fluoranthene. The microorganism, Mycobacterium sp. C2-3 (KCTC 9875P) is isolated by the steps of: sampling samples from the soil contaminated by oils; inserting samples in a minimal medium containing pyrene as a sole carbon source and incubating them for 1 week; transferring the fermented culture into a fresh medium same as the minimal medium above, incubating them and isolating C2-3 strain from the fermented culture; spreading the isolated C2-3 strain on minimal agar medium containing pyrene for 1 week; and identifying colonies as Mycobacterium sp. The oil decomposing compositions contains an effective amount of Mycobacterium sp. C2-3 KCTC 9875P.
