PURPOSE: Provided is a TiO2 powder for photocatalyst prepared by low temperature homogeneous precipitation using TiCl4 and NH4OH/(SO4)¬2- solution which has a fluff shape and increased surface area more than 2-4 times compared with a conventional TiO2 powder. CONSTITUTION: The preparation method of TiO2 powder comprises the steps of: preparing titanyl chloride solution(1.5M) by adding ice or ice water to TiCl4 solution; diluting to be 0.2-1.2M of Ti4+ ions; adding 1.4-3.7vol.% of NH4OH(25%) or (SO4)¬2- solution such as H2SO4, TiOSO4, FeSO4 or CuSO4 to be less than 0.08M of (SO4)¬ 2- ions in diluted titanyl chloride solution; standing at 15-70deg.C for 2-20hrs. for gaining a precipitate; filtering and washing with alkali halide solution(=0.1M); drying under 300deg.C for 10-40hrs.
