PURPOSE: An infrared ray transmitting and receiving apparatus and an electric device for adopting the same are provided to be installed in the electric device and generate a response signal to a receiving infrared ray signal when receiving the infrared ray signal so that a user grasps that the electric device is correctly operated. CONSTITUTION: An infrared ray receiving unit(12) receives an infrared signal and outputs an electric signal corresponding to the received infrared signal. A receipt pattern capture unit(16) receives the electric signal outputted from the infrared ray receiving unit(12) and captures a receiving signal pattern from the received electric signal. The receipt pattern capture unit(16) outputs the captured receiving signal pattern to a micro-controller(300) so that the electric device performs an operation corresponding to the receiving signal pattern or a state of the electric device is changed according to the receiving signal pattern. An infrared ray transmitting unit(14) receives the electric signal from the infrared ray receiving unit(12) and outputs an infrared signal corresponding to the received electric signal.
